
It turns out our new tenants are quite unique. The
Common Redpoll is not so common around here. They occasionally come this far south in the winter, but typically build their nests
much farther north. Mostly in Canada and Alaska. This is a photo of a
typical female, and as you can see, they are quite small. The
male has much brighter coloring and was the key to identifying these little fellers. We're waiting anxiously to see the babies.
